William BARTRAM (1711–1770) was the son of William BARTRAM Sr., (1674–1711) emigrant Ashbourne, Derbyshire, England & Elizabeth Ann SMITH (1690–1735).  William Jr., was born on April 3, 1711 in Darby, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. William was a Quaker by birth and a member of the Darby Monthly Meeting. William died on October 24, 1770 in Council, Bladen County, North Carolina.

In 1738, William married Elizabeth H. LOCKE (1715–1772) in Bladen County, North Carolina. Elizabeth was the daughter of Thomas LOCKE (1684-1739) emigrant from Ilminister, Somerset, England & Sarah THOMAS (1695–1770) of Chowan County, North Carolina. They were Quakers and members of the Green Street Meeting House in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.

Elizabeth died in 1772, in Council, Bladen County, North Carolina and was buried next to William in the Carvers Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery, in Council, Bladen County, North Carolina. Elizabeth signed her Will on December 27, 1771 and her estate was probated in 1772 in Warren, North Carolina.

William & Elizabeth had five known children: Martha BARTRAM Stephens (1735–?); William BARTRAM (1739–1771); Sarah BARTRAM (1740–1779); Mary BARTRAM (1743–1799) Elizabeth BARTRAM (1747–1799).
