Thomas Jefferson BIRD (1861-1931) (1) was the son of George BIRD Jr. (1821-1847) (2) and Melinda Elizabeth CARROLL (1827-1906). (3) Thomas was born on March 10, 1861, in Waco, McLennan County,   Texas, in Edinburg, Hidalgo County, Texas. (4)  Thomas married Drusilla GAY (1868-1948) the daughter of Augustus "Gus" GAY (1840-1879) and Amanda Matilda NASH (1846-1922) on November 28, 1883 in Hillsboro, Hill County, Texas. Drusilla was born on September 8, 1868 in Aquilla, Hill County, Texas. (8)

According to census records, Thomas was first a farmer in McLennan County, Texas. He then moved to Fort Worth and built a home and built and opened a grocery store in Birdville, Fort Worth, Texas. 

The family then moved down in the Brownsville Valley and opened a grocery store in Edinburg, Hidalgo County, Texas. Thomas died on September 29, 1931, at age 70, (5) in the Edinburg Hospital and was brought back to Birdville and buried on October 3, 1931, in the Memorial Lawn Section, Mount Olivet Cemetery, Fort Worth, Texas. (6)

Drusilla died on February 4, 1948, in Travis County, Texas, at age 79. She was buried on February 6, 1948, in the David Crockett Section, of Mount Olivet Cemetery, Fort Worth, Texas.

Thomas and Drusilla had fifteen children:

i.Thomas Jefferson BIRD was born in 1884 in Waco, McLennan County, Texas. (13) and died in 1884 in Waco, McLennan County, Texas.

ii. Robert BIRD was born on September 6, 1885 in Waco, McLennan County, Texas, died on November 6, 1886 in Waco, McLennan County, Texas. at age 1, and was buried on November 8, 1886, in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery, Waco, McLennan County, Texas.   iii. Gertrude "Gertie" BIRD (14) was born in 1886 in Waco, McLennan County, Texas (15) and died in 1912, in Oklahoma City, Ward 3, Oklahoma County,   Oklahoma, at age 26. Gertrude married Leonard Newton CLECKLER (16), the son of Joseph Newton CLECKLER, in 1910 in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas.(18). Leonard was born on April 14, 1886, in Floyd County, Georgia.(19) and died on September 11, 1964, in Boyd, Wise County, Texas, at age 78.

iiii Susie BIRD was born on March 28, 1888, in Waco, McLennan County, Texas, and died on May 15, 1889, in Waco, McLennan County, Texas, at age 1. She was buried after May 15, 1889 in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery, Waco, McLennan County, Texas.

v. Albert BIRD was born in 1889 in Waco, McLennan County, Texas. He died in 1908 in Waco, McLennan County, Texas, at age 19.

vi Hugh Orlando BIRD (20) was born on March 9, 1890, in Birdville, Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas.(21) He died on September 15, 1964, in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. (22) at age 74. Hugh was buried on September 17, 1964, in the Garden of the Rosary Section, of Mount Olivet Cemetery, in Fort Worth, Texas. Hugh married Katherine Augustine VILLROT, the daughter of Joseph Leon VILLROT and Virginia Emma, on October 1, 1924 in Dallas County, Texas. Katherine was born on February 13, 1903 in Dallas County, Texas. (23) She died on June 9, 1982, in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas,(24) at age 79, and was buried on June 11, 1982 in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Fort Worth, Texas.

   vii. Jeff Augustus "Gus" BIRD (25) was born on August 16, 1893, in Birdville, Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas.(26) He died on June 12, 1954, in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, (27) at the age of 60, and was buried on June 15, 1954 in Blue Bonnet Garden Section, Mount Olivet Cemetery, Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. Jeff married Clara Myrtle GRAY-SADLER (28), the daughter of George Charles Godwin GRAY and Lula Virginia "Ginny" WILLIAMS,(29) on August 7, 1917 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Clara was born on June 14, 1900 in Seaboard, Princess Anne County, Virginia.(30) She died on December 27, 1988, in Haltom City, Tarrent County, Texas,(31) at age 88. Clara buried on December 31, 1988, in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Fort Worth, Texas., Blue Bonnet Garden Section, Fort Worth, Texas.

 viii. Harriet "Hattie" Melinda BIRD was born on April 28, 1898, in Birdville, Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. Hattie died on November 28, 1990, in Glendora, Los Angeles County, California, at age 92.  Harriet married Jack BARTLETT, about 1918 in Glendora, Los Angeles County, California. Jack was born about 1898, in Lordsberg, New Mexico, and died in Glendora, and was buried in Glendora.

ix Guy Rowland BIRD (20) was born on October 29, 1898 in Birdville, Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas.(20) Guy died on January 7, 1949 in Dallas County, Texas, at age 50, and was buried on January 10, 1949, in the Morningside Section, of Mount Olivet Cemetery, Fort Worth, Texas. Guy married Annie Mae HOLLINGSWORTH, the daughter of Mr. HOLLINGSWORTH, in 1922 in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas.(32) Annie was born on August 23, 1903 in Texas. Annie died on December 17, 1990 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at age 87, and was buried on December 21, 1990 in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Fort Worth, Texas.

x.Thomas Jefferson BIRD (20) was born on October 21, 1899 in Birdville, Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas.(33) Thomas died on October 25, 1969, in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, (34) at age 70. He was buried on October 27, 1969, in the Garden of Angels Section of Mount Olivet Cemetery, Fort Worth, Texas. Thomas married Katrinka Catherine Mary SCHUTTE, in 1923, in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. Katrinka was born in 1906 in Amsterdam, Netherlands and died on May 22, 1977, in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, at age 71. She was buried on May 23, 1977, in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Fort Worth, Texas.

xi. Drusilla Gay BIRD (20) was born on March 1, 1905, in Birdville, Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas.(20) Drusilla died on October 2, 1991 in Chicago, Illinois, at age 86. Drusilla married Harry Barthomew O'CONNELL, the son of John B. O'CONNELL and Margaret CONNELLY, on March 22, 1924, in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. (35) Harry was born on March 22, 1896, in Lodi, Wisconsin. He died on January 15, 1979, at age 82.

   xii. John "Johnny" William BIRD (36) was born on September 17, 1907, in Dallas County, Texas.(36) Johnny died on February 23, 1959, in Austin, Travis County, Texas, (37) at age 51. Johnny married lian  Lillie Inez THORTON (1901–1978) in  1922 in Texas. Lillian was born on April 2, 1901 in Terrell, Kaufman County, Texas and  died on October 28, 1978  in Austin, Travis County, Texas.

 xiii. Annabel BIRD was born in 1909 in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. She died on January 14, 1910, in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, at age 1.

xiv. Richard "Dick" Bruno BIRD (38) was born on November 24, 1910, in Seminole County, Oklahoma(39) Dick died on September 21, 1979, in the Old Solders Home, in Washington, District of Columbia, (40) at age 68, and was buried on September 26, 1979, in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington County, Virginia. Richard married before 1944, in Seminole County, Oklahoma.

xv Frank Lafayette BIRD Sr., (41) was born on April 1, 1913, in Birdville, Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas.(42) Frank died on June 20, 1994, in Austin, Travis County, Texas,(43) at age 81 He was buried on June 23, 1994, in Austin, at Cook-Walden Capital Park, Travis County, Texas. Frank married Ora Gail MARTIN (44), the daughter of Joe Frank MARTIN (45) and Hulda Myrtle YOUNG, (45) on July 12, 1936, in the Ridetop Baptist Church, in Austin, Travis County, Texas. Ora was born on November 18, 1916, in Hillsboro, Hill County, Texas.(46) Ora died on May 5, 2010, in Leander, Williamson County, Texas (47) at age 93, and was buried in Austin, Travis County, Texas.
